Review of Cool Buck Slot
Cool Buck is one of Microgaming’s classic slot machines, an older game of theirs, but one that remains interesting in part thanks to the theme that’s been implemented. The almighty dollar is the one that is turned into the game’s main character, and you will find him in the logo, or as dollar signs in the highest paying symbol.
This game will feature 3 standard reels, which have 1 to 5 active lines available for you, and that’s a decision that you can make for yourself. In regard to the features which were implemented in Cool Buck, the game has only one, as it tries its best to remain a classic title:
- Wild Symbol
Theme & Graphics
The theme is supposed to be all about the $1 dollar bill, hence the title of Cool Buck. You don’t actually see that cute Dollar Bill character on the reels though, and instead, Microgaming chose an image of the Dollar Sign for its top-paying position. That’s where the themed component of the game ends, as after that you get only regular classic symbols. Images of blue 7s, cherries and three types of Bar logos (single, double and triple stacks) will be your low paying symbols.
These regulars will usually form their wins by appearing three times on a line, but sometimes you can get paid with one or two symbols (the cherries) or with mixed symbols (mixed types of Bar symbols).
Now, when it comes to graphics quality, Cool Buck has an above average design if you compare it with older 3 reel slot machines. If you do the same with modern releases, then it’s definitely not going to be something to be impressed with. Players that enjoy a clean look from their games will love Cool Buck, both the slot and its main character. It’s just a shame that we didn’t get to play with it on the reels, as a symbol.
Betting & Jackpots
Your bets in Cool Buck may start from a minimum value of just $0.25, but that amount will only get you 1 active line. To increase the number of active lines, you need to use the Bet One or Bet Max buttons, and you can end up with up to 5 and with a minimum wage of $1.25. The bet per line can be increased so that at its highest you will be spending $5 for each one. You can wager at most $25 per spin.
The game’s top prizes will give you the best reasons to activate all the lines for this game. This is the type of slot machine where the top payouts are different for each line that they can form on. While line 1 will get you paid up to 1,000 coins, you get 2,000 coins from line 2, 3,000 from line 3, 4,000 from line 4, and finally, 6,000 coins from line 5. With the maximum line bet selected, this means that the same winning combo can pay anywhere between $5,000 and $30,000, depending on the line on which it appears three times.
This type of wager system gives you a huge incentive to have all lines active, and if you need to spend less, then it’s advisable to reduce the value of the line bet, rather than the number of active lines.
Cool Buck has been offered at an average Return to a player percentage of 94.95%, making it an OK choice if you enjoy this style of gameplay, but there will be games out there with better RTP, even among the modern classic slots.
Special Features
By far, the game’s most important symbol will be the Dollar Sign, which is the one that offers all those interesting top prizes on lines 1 to 5. When it doesn’t appear three times on a line, which means that it can’t form a combo and get you paid directly, it will still try to assist you by acting as a replacement symbol.
Having one wild with two matching regular symbols, or two wilds with one regular symbol will get you a new winning combination that will pay according to the regulars that were on the line.
These smaller wins aren’t that impressive, the best one only gets to 300 coins, but in the long run, they add up, and the wild will be part of quite a few such combos.
Cool Buck has no other features to give you, it’s a very simple slot machine that way, with only that one wild Dollar Sign as an extra.
