Donuts Slots by Big Time Gaming
Big Time Gaming has made a name for itself in the slots niche. The highly-acclaimed Extra Chilli was the first to hit the scene, followed by Bonanza, another banger built on top of their proprietary Megaways engine. And after Book of Gods, a slot that features an orgy of bonuses and free spins, we welcomed the entry of Donuts, an Americana-inspired slot with a whopping 2,401 betways. This high-volatility slot features in the background a roadside Donut Diner surrounded by a dusky desert filled with rocks and cacti, an image which will be your constant companion as you play.
Although it comes in the standard 4×4 layout, Donuts has a clever gameplay and retro theme that gives it an authentic feel and look. It’s a simple yet fun 4-reel slot with 4 rows occupied by 2,401 pay lines. As soon as you go through the features, you will quickly find out that it offers exciting things like:
- Stacked Wilds on 2nd- 4th reel
- Free Spins
- Scattered Golden Donuts Symbols
- Multiplier Up to 50x
Themes & Graphics
Donuts is yet another innovative slot by Big Time Gaming, featuring a unique Americana-based theme and creative gameplay. As you might expect, donuts take centre-stage in this slot, with a dusty, highway Donuts Diner in the background. The surrounding of the Donuts house comprises cacti, desert grass, and rocks as well as an animated blue sky with scanty clouds drifting by, creating a stunning backdrop for the reels.
Granted that this is a lot from Big Time Gaming, graphics and thematic design are different from what you’d expect from standard titles. The reels are designed into an attractive shape that looks somewhat like a Jukebox. Following the Americana theme, the reels are populated by donuts in diverse colours and typical poker card symbols that we have come to hate or love. High paying symbols are red, purple, green, and blue donuts, while card standards 9 through Ace are the low-value symbols on the pay-table. The Wild symbols are represented by a huge multi-coloured donut glazed with chocolate, and the Golden Bonus Donut depicts the Scatters. But that isn’t all; there’s also a Donut Box that opens to reveal 1,2,3 or 4 donut symbols of the same colour or a Wild symbol with either 2x, 3x or 4x multiplier. Besides the above graphic elements, there is not much else, except for common slot buttons.
Special Features
I love that Donuts Slot by Big Time Gaming brings together typical features you will find in most slots and then some. The developer was very creative especially when it comes to multipliers and free spins. Here are some unique features that caught my eye, and will certainly be loved by players of all levels:
Donut Boxes
Again, donut box symbols can land on a reel and open up to reveal up to 4 donut symbols of the same kind (i.e., colour) or a wild symbol with a multiplier of 2x to 4x. As such, a player can create lucrative winning combinations of up to 2,401. That’s incredible; to say the least, considering that Donuts slot delivers mostly low regular payouts.
Wilds
Stacked Wilds appear only the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th reel to help you complete your winnings
Free Spins
Perhaps the most stand-out feature of Donuts Slot by Big Time Gaming is the free spins element that allows players to earn up to 20 free spins. It’s triggered when you land three or four Golden Donut Scatter symbols anywhere in view. This way, you will earn either 12 free spins for 3 Golden Donuts or 20 free spins for landing 4 Golden Donuts. The most exciting part is that these free spins are gamed on only reels consisting of blank spaces and golden donut symbols.
Before you play free spins, however, you will go through the first stage which is a Bonus 3-2-1 Countdown, playing on reels that contain only golden donut symbols. When the countdown stops, the first stage is over unless you land a golden donut which will reset it to 3, allowing you to increase the multiplier up to 50x. The actual free spins begin thereafter with the awarded multiplier being applicable to all winnings.
The free spin feature can also be re-triggered when you land two, three or four scatters, earning 10, 20 or 30 extra spins respectively.
Betting and Jackpots
The betting system offered by Donuts is definitely different from most slots. The highest paying symbols are purple donuts which help you win 15x your stake. The rest of the symbols pay significantly lower payouts, so players have to depend on multipliers to land big wins. As of this date, the max win is capped at 40000x your stake, and the slot boasts of a considerably high RTP of 96.54%. One thing I would like to see changed is the low non-multiplier payouts.
Verdict
Most slots offered by Big Time Gaming are a bit different in a good way, and Donuts follows suit. The 4×4 slot game comes with a remarkable RTP of 96.54%, a multiplier of up to 50x, a two-stage bonus round, lots of free spins, and a clever gameplay. On the overall, Donuts is fun and effortlessly easy to play, and rewarding enough. If the multipliers gods fall in your favour, then Donuts Slot by Big Time Gaming can be a potentially interesting slot.
